Communications Test > Wireless R&D and Conformance Test > Two-way AIM
Introduction of new features or equipment into a network can create interoperability problems between certain mobiles and the network. In many cases, this is despite both the network equipment and the mobile having passed all of the relevant conformance tests. Alternatively, sometimes features are rolled out in advance of conformance test cases being available. In these cases, network operators and network equipment manufacturers are left with the problem of trying to establish whether the problem lies with the network or the mobile. Aeroflex Two-Way AIM systems are used by both manufacturers and network operators to address these problems. Using non-intrusive monitoring, the Two-Way AIM is able to log and decode all signaling exchanges between the network and the mobile at the air interface. Two-Way AIM systems are available for GSM, GPRS and EDGE networks and also support features such as AMR. By acting as an independent arbiter, the Two-Way AIM enables users to quickly trace and diagnose the sources of interoperability problems. The Two-Way AIM systems can also be used by network equipment manufacturers for regression testing and software testing prior to new feature roll-out.
