4202R Mobile Service Tester

Aeroflex Secures Railway Safety

The Aeroflex 4202R Mobile Service Tester is dedicated to new features and frequency bands introduced by GSM-R, the railway communication system based on GSM. The Aeroflex 4202R is the first GSM-R test instrument for service applications, and its small size and low weight make it the ideal choice to test and repair applications requiring mobility.

.

  • Support of GSM-R specific call features, such as Voice Group Call Service (VGCS) and emergency calls based on VGCS.
  • Support of specific parameters, like Group ID and call priority.
  • Optional battery pack available for true mobile operation.

Proper Performance Helps Emergency Situations

The Aeroflex 4202R allows the simulation of group calls (VGCS) at various priority levels. This includes emergency calls based on group calls to verify not only the performance of the cab radios, but also of peripherals such as optical and acoustical alarms. These tests ensure proper performance of the radio system and help prevent disaster in emergency cases.

The 4202R enables the usage of different Group IDs and call priorities to simulate standard group calls or emergency calls.

During the "listener" mode, the 4202R generates a 1 kHz sine tone to verify that the phone is actually on the correct channel (since the phone is not transmitting during "listener" mode this is the only way to verify proper behavior.)

During the "talker" mode, the 4202R measures the RF coming from the phone, in that way verifying proper performance of the phone.

After an emergency call, the 4202R supports the reception of status messages coming from the phone.
