Aeroflex's new portable 2944B 1 GHz service monitor features color display for under $13,000

Building on the 2944, Aeroflex’s 2944B offers additional versatility,
functionality and ease of use for radio maintenance technicians and engineers

Wichita, KS — March 27, 2006 — Aeroflex today announced it is advancing its portfolio of 2945 series communications service monitors by introducing the 2944B analog radio test set. The successor to the 2944, the 2944B is an affordable entry-level test set with added functionality and features that enhance its capability to carry out professional, cost effective analog radio testing and maintenance.

“The introduction of the 2944B reinforces Aeroflex’s commitment to product development in support of a key market segment that sustains critical communication services in the analog Private Mobile Radio (PMR) sector,” said Graham Stevens, product manager, Aeroflex. “Currently, Aeroflex is the only major test vendor actively supporting testing of all primary digital and analog PMR systems.”

The 2944B comes equipped with the tools and capabilities to efficiently perform installation, test or fault diagnosis tasks at an affordable price. Weighing in at just 25 lbs., the 2944B is the lightest and most rugged portable service monitor available today with a standard feature, full span spectrum analyzer. Another standard feature is the new color transflective screen, making it easily viewable, even in bright sunlight. It also features a tracking generator with full offset tracking and supports all general AM/FM radio systems. Key additional options available on the 2944B that are of particular use to testing in the field are the “Live” Look and Listen capability and a convenient internal battery option.

The speed and accuracy of the 2944B saves time and provides clear, dependable measurement results. It has a typical Autotune speed of less than 3s, which means the time between transmitter key-up, acquisition and display of measurement results is hardly noticeable compared to the “wait” time with other products. New baseband filter selection and modulation measurement functions add additional flexibility seen previously only on the 2945B/2948B products.

Aeroflex’s 2945 series communication service monitors contain the standard instruments professionals expect from a radio test with a performance specification that tests the limit of the radios and not the limit of the test equipment. They have been widely accepted in the market due to their ease of use, excellent price/performance ratio and broad range of test coverage from general AM/FM systems through to signaling and trunked radio systems such as LTR, EDACS and MPT1327.

Availability
The 2944B will be available for first delivery in mid-May 2006.
