Aeroflex purchased Radiation Assured Devices, Inc. (RAD) on June 30, 2010, now known as Aeroflex RAD. Founded in 2003 initially to serve a select, captive requirement; Aeroflex RAD acquired the Longmire Laboratory radiation test and qualification facility from ATK (Alliant Techsystems, Inc.) Mission Systems Group in Colorado Springs in January 2007 and has since upgraded and expanded the infrastructure and capabilities. The 20,000 square foot facility is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Aeroflex RAD's current capabilities include: Co-60 for TID High and Low Dose Rate exposures, Cs-137, Neutron, Flash X-Ray/Prompt Dose Capabilities; Irradiation and Device Testing and qualification per MIL-STD-750 and MIL-STD-883, Method 1019; Enhanced Low Dose Rate Sensitivity (ELDRS) Testing; Radiation Lot Acceptance Testing (RLAT); Focal Plane Array Radiation, Characterization and Cryogenic Testing; Radiation Engineering and Component Qualification Planning; Wafer Lot Radiation Screening, Characterization, and Qualification; MIL-STD-750 and MIL-STD-883 Screening and Qualification of Advanced COTS Devices, and Design Engineering for Radiation Hardened Devices.

Aeroflex RAD also offers the following support services: Quick-Turn (24-hour) Prototype IC Assembly for test devices and Chip Removal and Re-packaging; Backside Chip Thinning and Re-assembly for Heavy Ion Radiation testing.

Aeroflex RAD is ITAR registered and ISO 9001:2008 certified. Aeroflex RAD has obtained Laboratory Suitability from DSCC for MIL-STD-750 and MIL-STD-883, method 1019 and is pursuing QML certification for select discrete and integrated circuit components.
